Operations Director – Beautiful Majestic Dolphin LLC
Location: 100% Remote
Type: Contract to Hire, Full Time
About Us
Beautiful Majestic Dolphin is a defense and commercial contractor that builds custom software, websites, and AI/ML solutions for clients across government, defense, and commercial sectors. We’re not your typical contractor: We’re the ones making TikToks about federal procurement while simultaneously responding to Army RFIs. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
We’re a fast-paced company that runs on flexibility, trust, and the understanding that our team members are actual human beings with lives outside of work. Need to step away? Do it. Work better at 10 PM than 10 AM? Cool with us. We’re building a company where talented people actually want to work, which means treating everyone like the adults they are.
The Role
We’re looking for an Operations Director who can keep our trains running on time while helping us grow. You’ll be the operational backbone of the company, managing everything from client relationships to contract writing to keeping our calendars from turning into complete chaos.
This isn’t a “sit back and delegate” role. You’ll be in the trenches with us, writing proposals, talking to clients, managing deadlines, and yes, maybe even helping craft the occasional LinkedIn post or TikTok about why our quantum-resistant encryption is actually pretty cool.
What You’ll Do
- Run day-to-day operations: Keep projects moving, deadlines met, and everyone on the same page
- Manage client relationships: Be the main point of contact for existing clients, understand their needs, and make sure we’re delivering what we promised
- Write and manage contracts: Draft contracts, proposals, and pitch decks for new business opportunities across government and commercial sectors
- Navigate our unique marketing world: Help manage our presence on both LinkedIn (professional) and TikTok (educational and fun), because we believe you can be a serious contractor and still explain what you do in ways that don’t put people to sleep
- Handle website management: Oversee content and updates for our website and client sites (no coding required, but you should be comfortable writing copy and understanding how websites work)
- Support the C-Suite: Work directly with leadership on strategic initiatives, business development, and whatever curveballs come our way
What We’re Looking For
- You’re a US citizen (required for the nature of our work) and over 18
- You’re organized without being rigid: You can manage multiple projects and deadlines while staying flexible when priorities shift
- You can write: Proposals, contracts, website copy, client communications. You’re comfortable putting words together in ways that make sense.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity: Some days you’ll be writing a Statement of Work, other days you’ll be brainstorming how to explain GraphQL APIs on social media. You roll with it.
- You learn fast: We work across different technologies and sectors. You don’t need to know everything, but you need to be able to pick things up quickly.
- You’re a people person: You can talk to clients, understand their problems, and translate between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- You have relevant experience: Could be from previous jobs, freelance work, education, or a combination. We care more about what you can do than where you went to school.
- We’re VERY AI-forward. We want you to use AI-enabled tools for writing, calendar management, email management, dictation, etc. If you see an AI-enabled tool that will help you become more efficient, we want you to use it, and we’ll happily expense it.
Nice to have (but not required):
- Experience with government contracting or federal proposals
- Familiarity with project management tools and processes
- Understanding of software development lifecycles
- Content creation or marketing experience
What We Offer
- 100% remote work with no travel requirements
- Flexible schedule because we trust you to get your work done
- Autonomy and responsibility from day one
- Direct access to leadership (you’ll report to the C-Suite)
- The chance to work on genuinely interesting problems across defense, government, and commercial sectors
- A team that values your time, your expertise, and your humanity
- A four and a half day work week. We don’t work Friday afternoons.
The Fine Print
- No active security clearance required for this role
- No specific degree requiredโwe evaluate candidates holistically based on experience, education, and demonstrated ability
- Must be able to work independently in a remote environment
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving company
To Apply
Send us your resume and a brief note telling us why you’re interested. We want to know what makes you tick and why you think you’d be a good fit for BMD. Bonus points if you can make us laugh or teach us something we don’t know.
